Rotate and flip video in your browser
Phones record rotation as a tag rather than as picture data, so a clip that looks upright in your gallery can arrive sideways everywhere else. Rotating here rewrites the actual frames, so the fix travels with the file wherever you send it.
How to rotate video online
Open your video
Drop in the sideways or mirrored clip.
Turn it
Press Rotate left or Rotate right for 90-degree steps. Press twice to turn a clip that arrived fully upside down.
Mirror it if needed
Flip horizontal fixes selfie footage where text reads backwards. Flip vertical mirrors top to bottom.
Export
The rotation is written into the picture itself, so every player and every upload shows it correctly.
Why a clip looks upright on your phone but sideways elsewhere
Most phone cameras always record in one physical orientation and add a rotation tag to the file. Your phone’s gallery reads that tag; plenty of players, editors and websites ignore it. Rotating the frames themselves removes the ambiguity for good.
Mirror, rotate, or both
Rotation and flipping are independent, so you can rotate a clip a quarter turn and mirror it in the same pass. The preview shows the combined result immediately, and Reset rotation puts everything back.
Your video never leaves your device
Most online video editors upload your file to their servers before you can touch it. This one works differently: every edit and every export happens inside your browser, on your own hardware.
Rotating is a small fix, and it is not worth waiting on an upload bar for. The moment a file has to travel to a server and back, a five-second job turns into a few minutes plus a copy of your footage on a disk you do not control.
Turning the picture is quick because nothing travels. Your browser holds the clip, applies the rotation and writes the corrected file straight back to your device.
Rotate video — questions and answers
Why does my phone video appear sideways?
Phones often record in one orientation and add a rotation flag to the file instead of turning the picture. Some players honour that flag and some ignore it, which is why a clip can look upright in your gallery and sideways once uploaded. Rotating here bakes the correct orientation into the picture itself, so every player agrees.
Can I mirror a video as well as turn it?
Yes. Horizontal flip mirrors left to right, which is the one you want when a selfie recording makes text or a logo read backwards. Vertical flip turns the picture upside down.
Will rotating lose quality?
Turning by 90 degrees moves whole pixels, so the picture itself is not degraded. The clip is re-encoded on export like any other edit, so choose Best quality and the original resolution if you want to stay as close to the source as possible.
Which files can I rotate?
Any video your browser plays: MP4 (H.264), WebM and most MOV files from phones. You pick MP4 or WebM for the finished file.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, and it is one of the quickest edits to do on one: each tap turns the clip a quarter turn and the preview updates immediately.
Is my video uploaded to rotate it?
No. The rotation is applied inside your browser and the file never leaves your device.
Can I rotate by an angle other than 90 degrees?
Rotation works in 90-degree steps, which is what sideways and upside-down footage needs. Free-angle rotation would crop or letterbox the frame, so it is not offered.
Will rotating change the video size?
A quarter turn swaps width and height, so a 1920x1080 clip becomes 1080x1920. The output size is shown in the panel before you export.
