Add music to video in your browser
Choose an MP3, M4A or WAV and it plays under your video, from the first frame or any point you pick. Keep the original sound or replace it, and balance the two with simple volume sliders.
Background music turns a silent clip into something people watch to the end, and the right track can cover wind noise or a busy room. Add the song, set how loud it is against the original sound, and export a single video with both mixed together.
How to add music online
Open your video
Drop in the clip you want music on.
Choose the music
Open the Music tool and pick an MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG or FLAC file from your device.
Balance the sound
Set the music volume, and keep or untick the video’s own sound. Press play to hear the mix.
Export
The music and the original sound are mixed into one track in the video you download.
Keep the original sound, or replace it
With "Keep the video’s own sound" ticked, both play together: lower the music to around 30 to 50% and speech stays clear above it. Untick it and the music replaces the sound completely, which suits travel clips, time-lapses and anything recorded in the wind.
When the song and the video are different lengths
A song shorter than the video repeats from the start if Repeat is ticked. A longer one is cut where the video ends, with a one-second fade-out so it eases out instead of stopping dead. Skip the first few seconds to jump past a slow intro.
Your video never leaves your device
Most online video editors upload your file to their servers before you can touch it. This one works differently: every edit and every export happens inside your browser, on your own hardware.
Adding music means handing over two files: your video and your audio. Plenty of online editors want both on their servers before they will mix them.
Here neither is sent anywhere. Your browser decodes the song, mixes it under the video and writes the result to your device.
Add music — questions and answers
Which audio files can I use?
MP3, M4A, AAC, WAV, OGG and FLAC — anything your browser can play.
Can I keep the original sound as well?
Yes. Leave "Keep the video’s own sound" ticked and both play together; untick it to replace the sound with the music. The two volume controls set the balance.
What if the song is shorter than the video?
Tick Repeat and it starts again from the top when it ends. Untick it and it plays once, leaving the rest of the video with only its own sound.
Can I use any song?
You can add any file, but copyright still applies when you publish. YouTube, Instagram and TikTok may mute or block videos that use commercial music without a licence. Royalty-free and Creative Commons tracks are the safe choice.
Can I fade the music in and out?
Yes. The Music tool has its own fade in and fade out, and the music fades out over a second at the end by default. The Fade tool fades the picture and the whole soundtrack together.
Can the music start later in the video?
Yes. Type a start time, press Start at playhead, or drag the music bar along the timeline.
Is my music or video uploaded?
No. Both files are mixed by your own browser and never leave your device.
Can I start the music partway through the video?
The music always starts with the video. To start it later, trim the beginning off the song first in any audio editor, or trim the start of the video here.
