Trim video online in your browser

Trimming is the edit almost every clip needs: remove the fumbling at the start, cut the moment you reach for the camera at the end, and keep only the part worth watching. This trimmer runs entirely in your browser, so there is no upload queue and no file sitting on somebody else’s server.

How to trim video online

  1. Open your video

Drop a file onto the editor or choose one from your device. It opens straight away, with a thumbnail strip along the timeline.

  2. Set the start and end

Drag the two yellow handles, or type exact times such as 1:05.5. Press I and O to snap the start or end to wherever the playhead sits.

  3. Check the selection

Press play. Playback loops through just the part you kept, so you can hear exactly where the cut lands.

  4. Export

Pick MP4 or WebM and press Export. The finished clip downloads with nothing added to it.

Frame-accurate without the guesswork

Dragging is fast, but it is not precise. That is why the start and end also accept typed times, down to a tenth of a second. Type 0:04.2 and the playhead moves there; press I and the trim start snaps to it. The clip length updates as you go, so you always know how long the result will be before you commit to an export.

Nothing is re-uploaded between edits

Because the file never leaves your device, changing your mind costs nothing. Adjust the handles, play it back, adjust again. There is no re-upload, no processing queue and no daily limit on how many times you can try.

Your video never leaves your device

Most online video editors upload your file to their servers before you can touch it. This one works differently: every edit and every export happens inside your browser, on your own hardware.

A trim is the clearest case for it. You are usually cutting a clip because part of it is not meant for anyone else — a fumbled start, a conversation before the take, a shot of the room. Uploading the whole file to a server to remove that part rather defeats the point.

Here the original never moves. Your browser reads it, plays back the section you kept, and records that section as a new file on your own disk.

Trim video — questions and answers

How long does a trim take to export?

About as long as the part you keep, not the original clip. The editor replays your selection and records it, so trimming a two-minute video down to ten seconds takes roughly ten seconds. That makes trimming the fastest export on the site.

Is the cut frame-accurate?

The start and end accept times to a tenth of a second, and the cut lands on the nearest frame to the time you typed. At 30fps one frame is about 0.033s, so a typed time is always within a frame of where you meant it.

Which files can I trim?

Anything your browser can play: MP4 (H.264), WebM, and most MOV files straight off a phone. Trimming never changes the picture, so the only choice you make on export is MP4 or WebM.

Can I trim accurately on a phone?

Yes. The two handles are sized for a fingertip, and the clip length updates as you drag. For tenth-of-a-second precision the typed start and end boxes are easier than dragging on a small screen.

Is my video uploaded to trim it?

No. The file is decoded by your own browser and the trimmed copy is recorded on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere, so there is no queue and no file left on a server afterwards.

Can I cut a section out of the middle of a video?

This trimmer keeps one continuous section, set by a start and an end point. To remove a middle section, export the part before it, then export the part after it, and join the two clips in any player or editor that supports joining.

Does trimming reduce quality?

The clip is re-encoded on export, so choose Best quality and the original resolution if you want the result to stay as close to the source as possible.
